Gift Certificates, Online Orders, Pickup and Curbside Options
As the Castro Valley Marketplace continues to build toward opening (we can’t wait!), our incredible merchants are working to make sure that our greater community stays healthy and fed. As many families are spending more time together in the kitchen preparing nourishing meals, we’ve got all the information you need on how to support our food providers. Cure your cabin fever by taking on that cooking project you’ve been putting off, or support small business by ordering ribs and biscuits for pickup.
Here’s what our merchants have been up to:
Blue Heron Catering
Blue Heron Catering, the same team bringing Cannery Kitchen & Tap to the Marketplace, isn’t missing a beat offering prepared ribs, smoked chicken, brisket and butternut gratin for curbside pickup. Be sure to place your order 24 hours in advance by emailing your form to ops@blueheroncatering.com.
Family entrees (to feed 4, with sides and their famously fluffy biscuits) or sandwiches can be picked up curbside 11am-12pm or 4-5pm from their Emeryville/Oakland (delivery available for additional fee).
Head to their website for the full menu and ordering information.

Amphora Nueva
Did you know that high polyphenol olive oils have anti-inflammatory properties and protective antioxidants? With more cooking at home you may need to stock up on pantry staples. Quality and freshness make all the difference, especially in recipes with just a few ingredients. Our olive oil experts at Amphora Nueva are doing curbside pickup for orders at their Lafayette location, and have a fresh crop of Northern Hemisphere oils on tap.
Amphora’s been posting some recipes lately on Instagram that make us want to get right in the kitchen – wholesome and fresh (spoiler alert: there’s a nutrition expert in the family).
Call in your orders for pick up at the Lafayette (925) 310-4681 or San Anselmo locations (415) 459-8832.

Oaktown Spice Shop
Our favorite spice shop is sending out care packages! Their team is still all smiles fulfilling online orders with their Oakland and Albany storefronts closed for now. With plenty of inspiring recipes on their website to pair with their hand-mixed spice blends, now is a great time to fill your pantry, and then your house, with aroma.
Stay warm with a spicy hot cocoa gift set or make a batch of crinkle-top molasses cookies. If something stronger is what you’re after, try making their homemade tonic water to brighten up that bottle of gin in the back of your cupboard.
For all bags and orders over $50, they’re offering free shipping.
From Erica, “You can also buy a digital gift card and send to a friend to place an order online or for that day when we open our doors again. Reach out to info@oaktownspiceshop.com with any questions.”

FARMcurious
Nicole Kramer Easterday offers a range of products (like fermentation and cheesemaking kits), hands-on cooking classes, and experiential gifts that are wonderful for any occasion. Especially timely if anyone you know is getting into some serious cooking (or pickling or curing) during their forced staycation.
If you already plan to attend a FARMcurious cheesemaking class when the Marketplace opens (but aren’t sure just when yet), buying a gift card now is a fantastic way to support her small business and have something to look forward to when this shut-in is over.

Alameda Natural Grocery
The Alameda Natural Grocery is open! They’ve just reduced their hours a little bit.
Here’s a message from their newsletter:
“Effective Tuesday, March 17th we will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
It is only a three-hour reduction so we hope this will minimize disruptions on your end while preserving overall store operations on our end. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this unprecedented time.”
Purchasing gift cards is also a great way to support the Castro Valley location and give locals a great opportunity for the Castro Valley community to save their spot in line for the future.
UPDATE: ANG had temporarily suspended online orders, but are now accepting online orders for delivery through Mercato as of the morning of Monday, March 23rd. Additionally, they are offering Senior Hours between 8 – 9am. Check for their latest updates on their Facebook or Instagram.

Baron’s Quality Meats & Seafood
As of right now we’ve reduced operating hours at our Alameda location from 10-6. We’re a little low on product today but I’ve spoken with our suppliers directly and expect to be able to offer almost everything we normally carry within a few days. We appreciate and thank you for your patience. As of right now in an effort to minimize some of the risk for our employees we have stopped taking cash at our locations. We strive to serve you well everyday, and we ask that you come to the shop with an “open mind” for what’s for dinner. We are happy to give you advice on how to cook cuts that are new to you. Now is a great time to experiment and learn to cook! Stay Healthy and Wash Your Hands
